PhpGraphy installed to display pictures from various doggy activities.... Send me any relevant pictures - and the guilty parties will be humbled...

January 19, 2002 - The Dog is Resurrected - Long Live the Dog!
Like a bad joke, refusing to die... Like the night of the living dead... Ok, you get the idea! The DOG is baaaaaaaack!!!!

April 1, 2001 - The Dog is Resurrected - Long Live the Dog!
Like a bad joke, refusing to die... Like the night of the living dead... Like the Phoenix before it... The Dog Lives!!! Long Live the Dog! Management invoked some sinister incantations, performed some death-defying feats, consulted Don Hugerbone, incanted some Incantations, and breathed new life into the Dog! - like the Phoenix before it, the Dog Lives! When I get bored, I will putz around some more with it...

December 16, 1997 - Updated Software Installed
It's the end of the year and management is bored, so we decided to hose things up and install the latest and greatest versions of software on the DOG. In particular, the new WEB SERVER software now obeys UNIX permissions, so if you are having problems with "things" not showing up on your home page, check permissions. The WEB SERVER now runs as an ordinary user, thus your public_html files must have world=read (and possibly execute) for things to work right. Any problems, send mail to the "obscured responsible party" at webmaster@dldog.xxxx.yyy.com. Thanks for your support - your bonus is in the mail!

July 31, 1997 - **Dbldog Proxy Service Termination**
Rumor has it that July 31 will be the last day for organizations to run their own
proxy service. Management is still working on a way to keep the dog as a proxy
- but there are no guarantees. Be prepared to change your web browser to use the
corporate proxy servers on 'proxy.xxx.com' if the dog does not respond to proxy
requests any more after July 31. As new information becomes available, it will be posted here.
Refer to the Documentation directory for more information and browser configuration details.

June 20, 1997 5PM - Due to a building-wide powerdown, the dbldog machine
will not be available from Friday evening, June 20 to Monday Morning,
June 23, early morning. Too bad building power isn't as reliable as the dog!

April 4, 1997 - Server Side Includes enabled on Dbldog Dbldog's httpd
server now has server side includes enabled. This allows for
neat stuff like inline shell scripting, perl and page counters within your
web page. Reference the NCSA web site for more information about using and language syntax.

January 6, 1997 - Dbldog is Time-Synced to Atomic Clock
Dbldog's clock is now synced to the atomic clock in Boulder Colorado. The
current time can be found out by telnetting to the time port on dbldog
(telnet dbldog 13). Time seems to be accurate to a couple of seconds.
Stay tuned to DOG news. Changes are being looked at to give even better
resolution in the near future.

December 29, 1996 - **Newer Machine is Production**
Faster, Speedier, Better Equipped to Serve YOU! Report any problems to management ASAP! Thankx.

October 11, 1996 - Lynx and X-Clients available.
Added the Lynx text based Web Browser and setup X-Windows Clients.

October 6, 1996 - New machine is production.
Everyone should be using dbldog.xxxx.yyy.com with the IP address of AAA.BB.CCC.DD. Report any problems or questions to management at root@dbldog.xxxx.yyy.com.

August 26, 1996 - New domain name change - dbldog.xxxx.yyy.com !!!
DBLDogs domain name has changed to dbldog.xxxx.yyy.com effective August 26, 1996. This is actually a _new_ DBLdog server that we will be temporarily running in parallel with the existing dbldog.xxxxxx.yyy.com. The new server is still in testing stages so please report any bugs. Most of your data should be available as the filesystems are being NFS mounted.

August 1, 1996 - Check out /pub
As always, remember to frequently check out DBLdogs /pub/incoming directory for the latest programs and utilities.

June 13, 1996 - GAMES: FXFIGHT and STRIFE
Check out two new game demos. FXFIGHT which is akin to Virtua Fighter/Tekken and yet another Doom type game, Strife. Both are about 4Mb each and are up on DBLDog in the /incoming directory.

June 1996 - CU-SEE Me Reflector now on DBLDog
CU-SEE Me, a popular and inexpensive video conferencing program, has now hit the dog. The CU-See Me software is available on DBLDog via anonymous FTP. Once installed, connect to the CU-See Me reflector running on dbldog.xxxxxx.yyy.com and you might get a glimpse of Jon Allen working at his desk. Also, to broadcast your own signal you may want to check out Connectix's (I think) inexpensive black/white video camera (around $100).

April 1996 - CGI scripting enabled on DBLDog
For doggers using DBLDog as their Web site, you can now write your own CGI backend scripts. Just name your executables with the postfix .cgi
